Handmade Gifts for the Home; December News & Stories
This month we're featuring Artsville artists that make art for the home. Glass, encaustic, animation; we have it all! Learn more about the artists and shop.
Artsville Collective’s gallery has been transformed into a holiday shop full of handmade, reasonably priced treasures. In November, we featured the artists of Local Cloth who are showing gifts from the heart. (Did you miss that story? Read it here.) This month, just in time for your Christmas shopping, we’re featuring artists that make pieces for the home—Christian Hessler of the North Carolina Glass Center, Sarah St. Laurent and Lynn Bregman Blass of the Encaustic Studio, and Cynthia Llanes. Scroll down for an introduction to these Artsville featured artists.
Christian Hessler
Christian is a skilled glassblower and emerging artist that is fresh out of school and new to the Asheville area. As an artist and teacher at NC Glass Center, he has time to perfect Venetian techniques and applications of murrini. His stunning vases, ornaments, and glass collectibles at Artsville Collective’s gallery would add a special, handmade element to any home.
Sarah St. Laurent and Lynn Bregman Blass
Sarah and Lynn from the Encaustic Studio are showing vivid encaustic pieces at Artsville Collective’s gallery. Colorful houses of paper and encaustic, many backlit, are Sarah St. St. Laurents’s answer to affordable Asheville real estate. They are charming as a holiday village display, but sure to bring smiles at any season. These sweet homes are full of personality, color, and joy. Lynn Bregman Blass is showing a variety of small encaustic works that can be bought alone or together to create a colorful mosaic of abstract work.
Cynthia Llanes
Cynthia’s oil paintings are an impressionist’s dream. She beautifully captures nature’s movement and changing light, as she’s inspired by her move from California to Western North Carolina. Swing by Artsville Collective’s gallery to see her colorful paintings, prints, and hand-painted up-cycled handbags.
Artsville Collective’s holiday shop and exhibition “IMPRESSED: Print, Paint, Dye, Repeat” is on display through January 22. Get your holiday shopping done and see some beautiful art from local Asheville artists while you’re at it.
Surprising Gifts Available at Artsville Collective
Artist Daryl Slaton has introduced his new holiday collection of prints, boxed cards, and mugs that animate to Artsville’s holiday shop. Animate each print, card, and mug with your phone to reveal a whimsical story line with a background of catchy holiday music.
Check out and shop Daryl Slaton’s artwork at Marquee through January 22.
