Cities such as Hickory, Morganton, Asheville, and Henderson will soon bid farewell to their local shops, signaling the end of an era for the legacy retailer.
This bittersweet turn of events follows Joann's bankruptcy filing last year, a move aimed at restructuring its mounting debt after enduring financial struggles that intensified during the pandemic, as reported by NPR. When the restructuring plan failed, the company's assets were acquired by a liquidator, who promptly initiated going-out-of-business sales at the end of February. Sales are expected to last through the end of May or until supplies run out.
